Life back in the workforce (read: days of WAHM over)

Wake up at 630am
Sneak out of bed to get ready
Val's eyes pop open instinctively and jumps onto me koala-like
Walk around with koala, both have eyes half open, trying to get dressed
Unable to get dressed with koala attached to hip
Wake grandma up; she wrestles with val to get him off me
Screaming fest which dies down when distracted with strange food
Stumble out of house
Get on bus
Reach office
Work; get distracted; attend meetings; lunch; work; gosh it's 5pm!
Get on bus
Reach home
Koala screams in delight at sight of mommy; becomes surgically attached again
Gobble down dinner; bath (without koala who has been wrestled off again);
play with val and beg him to sleep while stifling yawns and trying to keep eyes open
Lose patience at 9pm; begin to look menacing to threaten sleep to come
Val nurses enthusiastically until asleep *yes yes go ahead to tsk tsk me
Sometimes i fall asleep and wake up at 1am, wondering where time has fled
When successful (like now), surf net, read blogs, catch up on news, check emails, never have time to reply or blog
Continue working or studying
Collapse into bed

Go back to beginning....

Weekends are another story for another time

  2. About nursing to sleep... You know, Riley used to fall asleep stuck on my breast and then drink and drink and drink all through the night. (He still does that now when he isn't well.) But just after he turned one, we brought him to the dentist for what we thought was a chipped tooth. Turned out he had pretty bad tooth decay and part of his front tooth was slowly rotting (and falling) away. So we had to brush his teeth religiously twice a day and he had to stop nursing to sleep. It took us a few months. (The first week was a nightmare!) But now, he'll feed till he's satisfied, then we'll brush our teeth together (er, actually he pretends to brush his teeth and I clean it up as best as I can after that). He'll still go for the breast in his sleep - but usually after 3am so at least I know there's no milk & bacteria eating away at his teeth ALL through the night.

So erm, what I wanted to say with this long rambling message was just that we've all got to be watchful when it comes to nursing before bedtime. A cousin's little boy also ended up with tooth decay this way.

The only good thing in all of this is that well, at least it's their milk teeth. ;p

  3. hi bliss.... thanks for the advice. yeah, i've got a dentist appt for Val on 20th Feb and have begun brushing his teeth with cloth and baby toothbrush since he was months old.... so far so good... no signs of decay. but i did read that entry of yours a while ago about riley's teeth and that really motivated me to brush Val's teeth twice a day!

DOt - - -yeah working in office now.... catch up in Feb!
